"Not even once?"

"No, I haven't even been to the Eastern Palace where my grandparents live. Lady Fourier

said that 'A Princess shouldn't carelessly go out from the castle and expose her face to the

public'."

Prior to this, when Alicia often fled from her lessons, she always roamed around within the

castle.

She did show up in the Chivalric Order’s training hall once, and walked around the civil office

building to find someone to play with.

Everyone in the castle received her warmly, as the amicable Princess came to play with her

sparkling blue eyes. They were used to the Princess's presence, to the point that they even

started to prepare snacks and wait for her, or even hide her from the maids.

As indicated by Lady Fourier, Alicia’s dignity as a Princess couldn’t be retained if she went

out of the castle in the same casual manner.

"Actually, the Royal Lady-in-waiting thinks that there’s nothing good about me getting close

to everyone in the castle. But, I think she already gave up on it."

"I'm not very familiar with the regulation of Royal Court education… but, I think it is much

desirable for a ruler to be close to their people."

Clovis who just misspoken quickly covered his mouth.

"Please forgive me! I had overstepped my bounds."

"It's fine, Clovis . Rather, can you tell me why you think so?"

Alicia 's blue eyes peered onto his face, fully immersed in interest. Clovis coughed as he

regained his composure.

"Because… it will be an asset to national power in the long run."

Clovis continued ahead, capturing the image of the streets with his cold eyes.

"Though there exists rulers who reigned over people through overwhelming authority and

charisma, if a ruler and their people bonded over trust, each person in the Kingdom could

contribute to improve the Kingdom with their own capability. It would be a much bigger

influence over a ruler who only used their power alone."

"You did propose, umm, 'Abolition of disparity within the promotion system' is it? Was it for

the same reason you just mentioned?"

When Alicia brought up the content of Clovis' submitted report regarding Ealdar, the young

aide looked at her in surprise.

"Perhaps, Your Highness has also read it?"

"I haven’t, I asked Father to show it to me, but it was too difficult for me to understand."

For that reason, Alicia had thought to ask Clovis about the content of his report sometime

soon. When she said that, Clovis’s face slightly tinted red.

"I did propose it for the same reason. But, even with a set amount of people squeezing

out their brains to the best extent of their abilities, it would be difficult to start a change in the

Kingdom...therefore, I wholeheartedly thought that it was a proposal that would be deeply

buried away."

Apparently, Clovis was already prepared in the case that his proposal ignited the King's wrath.

Opposite to his expectation, King James was fascinated and seemed to favor the proposals

of two young men, which were far from the Kingdom's "ideals" of absolute monarchy.

There was a reason why Alicia’s proud Father was called a wise King with his broad mind.

"Trust between the ruler and people, huh?"

Inside her head, the voices of the crowd stuck close to her ears and wouldn’t leave.

There was no way to build trust between King Fritz and those people who held up

their torches and chanted “kill” with weapons in their hands.

Perhaps, not even between Alicia and those people.

"I wonder what my people think of me."

A gentle breeze blew, and her blue hair fluttered softly.  Beside her, Clovis was captivated

by her side profile that was extremely adult-like. Alicia, who was gazing at the city with a

somber look, eventually shook her head slowly.

"I am scared of the outside. Even if they are the people that I should be protecting."

"Your Highness?"

"It’s no good. I am not qualified to be a Princess."

Her forced smile ended up much weaker than she had intended. Clovis bit on his lips

fretfully next to Alicia, whose hair fluttered in the wind.

“Your Highness, are you going to study again during your precious holidays?”

Alicia, who went separate way from Clovis, was about to drop off shortly in her room

and had thought, 'Might as well go to the library and do some research', but for some reason,

the two maids whom she just came across with were cramming onto her.

"Well … I can, right?"

"Absolutely not!"

Annie and Martha, who stood imposingly in front of Alicia to stall her, voiced their firm

disapproval in unison. Cornered by those two, Alicia was sitting down on her bed.

Alicia let out a wry smile as she looked at the faces of the two maids, who stood side by

side, wouldn't let her pass through.

“I’m used to getting scolded by the Head Maid for skipping my lessons, but isn’t it the first

time that I got scolded from studying too much?”

"Your Highness is doing too much studying lately.”

Anni placed her hands on her waist and sighed.  Next to her, Martha nodded as her braids

swayed around.

“Your highness’ complexion is slowly getting worse, and even develops eye bags . If this

goes on, Your Highness will collapse.”

"Is my complexion really that bad?"

"Relatively, yes!"

Alicia slumped down over the frank statement of the two maids. She was happy that the two

of them talked to her without concealing anything, but, if only they were a bit more gentle,

she wouldn’t even have resisted. Though, what matters were the feelings.

"In any case, please no more visits to the library today. It's Your Highness’ precious

holiday. Taking a break at times won’t get Your Highness punished.”

"Even if you say that…”

Interlacing her hands behind her back, Alicia looked up at the two. When Annie said

Alicia needed to take a break, she meant to return Alicia’s spirit just like before.

“That's right!” Martha smiled and held her hands together.

“If it’s Her Highness Alicia, that must be it! Playing tag! Hasn’t it been a while? Since it’s a

precious break time, the Princess can run around the castle and work out at the same time.

Her Highness’s mind surely would be refreshed right away!”

"What? That won’t be good either."

Annie glared at her fellow maid who suggested that lightly.

“Her Highness is exhausted, she needs to rest. Suggesting her to play tag is outrageous....”

"I’m Alright. It's not too bad to run for the first time in a while."

“Your Highness~!”

Alicia leapt off the bed and grinned at Annie who still stood in her way.

“Surely, sitting down and reading books all day makes my body dull. People in the

castle might be waiting for me and preparing some snacks since I haven’t shown up

that much.”

“Isn’t it better to just walk around normally?”

“There’s no thrill with that. And If you are worried, just catch me

quickly.”

“Your Highness really asked for it…”

Annie returned an unsettling smile towards Alicia who purposely provoked her

and showed a wink. The two maids rolled up their arms and stood imposingly, but

Alicia nimbly moved around and slid passed them, who had their air changed all of sudden.

“Your Highness!”

“Princess!”

“Too bad. Since we really are doing it, I won’t be caught that easily!"

That day, the sequence of “The Princess has fled!” was resonated within the castle.

It was resounded through the kitchen, the chivalric order’s training ground, the library,

and at last...
